Fortunately, extension aftercare isn’t complicated. Once the steps below become routine, you should have no trouble fitting them into an already-packed schedule.
If you love your eyelash extensions, it makes sense to put in the work to make them last. Here’s what you should do to keep them full, clean, and long-lasting.
Keep your new lash extensions away from moisture for 48 hours. Water can break the bonds of the glue, resulting in weak extensions that don’t hold up as long as they should.
Using a clean and dry spoolie (the tool used to apply mascara), gently brush your lashes in a downward motion every morning.
Use a designated lash shampoo and a clean spoolie to cleanse your lashes regularly. Once every three days is fine if you’re not wearing makeup; otherwise, do it more often.
On average, eyelash extensions will last up to four weeks, though with adequate care, they could last up to eight. In either case, regular touch-ups will help fill gaps and keep your lashes lush. Many of our clients opt for eyebrow microblading in addition to lash extensions. Since we're on the subject, let's review a few essential care tips for microblading.
In the days immediately after microblading, Your brows will likely be red, tender, and slightly swollen. Follow your esthetician’s post-care instructions on brow cleaning and care, and avoid touching your brows unless you absolutely have to. As for washing your face after microblading, avoid your brows entirely with both product and water for at least seven days.
In the two weeks after microblading: No facials. Avoid getting any makeup, lotion, or powders on your brows unless your esthetician recommends it, and don’t get your brows wet. If possible, avoid working up a sweat, even if that means toning down your workout routine for a bit.
In the first month after microblading: Avoid tanning and sun exposure, and wear a wide-brimmed hat for added protection. Leave your brows alone as much as possible, even if they get itchy or scab.
Eyelash extensions and microblading are cosmetic procedures that can save you a ton of time every day so long as you care for them correctly. Make sure you get the most out of your investment by following proper aftercare.
